Our skin is a very clever organ that covers our entire body. It comes in different textures, colours, and really elasticity. Everyone has it however no two individual’s skins are the same. Not only is it the largest organ, but it is one of the only renewable organs present. It is that clever it can shed old dead skin and have several layers of new skin underneath to replace the ones lost. There are many things that can affect the skin of an individual in our daily lives.
The weather, detergents, the way we treat it, accidents, traumas amongst many other different issues. We need to look after our skin to ensure that it remains in good healthy condition for when we get older and our bodies start to slow down. There are certain types of skin disorders that can affect certain people. Some of these conditions may be able to be treated; however there are some that do not respond to treatment very well. A great example of a non life threatening skin disorder is called Becker’s Nevus. This condition affects the skin of an individual in certain parts and areas. The first recordings of this condition were in 1948 by a gentleman who practiced as a dermatologist called Samuel William Becker.
This condition has clearly been named after him for discovering it because its name is his surname. This condition generally affects individual’s shoulders and the highest part of their chests. This can be known to start with a different colour in the pigmentation of the individual’s skin on or around these typical affected areas. The patch that this condition affects can often get thicker in texture, darker and start to grow hair on it. If Becker’s Nevus is found elsewhere on the body where it can not be hidden as much, it can be very difficult to cover it up. This condition is one of these things then you will either need to put up with or seek medical attention from your doctor. If you have this condition and are a lady, if it is found to be often more harder in summer because u can’t hide a big dark or hairy patch. This may make an individual very self conscious, but there are things that can be done to monitor and control the physical affects on your Becker’s Nevus. This type of condition would not be considered as a critical illness under a critical illness insurance policy.
